A front door call with Kevin Taxi at 09.30.

12.38  Giraffe Restaurant, Heathrow Terminal One.

A straightforward journeying here in the Kevinmobile...

… undisturbed by the closure of the M4 between Junctions 2&3 & a lorry drivers’ protest on the A40.

BA has new checking-in arrangements at Terminal One, now that most of BA operations have moved to Terminal Five (tested by Director Rieflin & the REMs on its opening day). Very light passenger traffic when I passed through.

Brunching…

… and enough time for a leisured walk to the gate.

Monasterio Nuestra Señora De Los Angeles / Monjas Dominicas

Mare de Deu del Roser, 2.

Sant Cugat (08174),

Barcelona.

A full flight...

IMG0179.jpg

My seat: the aisle on the right side of the final row. On the left, across the aisle, a mother breast-feeding her child throughout the flight. This is a first in 51 years of flying, On my right, two English businessmen in waste management, talking without a pause for 3 hours; 1‘ 20” on the ground (take-off was delayed, the captain explaining that Heathrow was busy) and 1’40” in the air. The businessman on my immediate right had boobiest tendencies, mainly directed towards aircraft equipage than parts of his body (although he found some interest in his nose, disposing of its contents): the in-seat table-toggle responded passively to repeated checking that it did, in fact, toggle. And it did toggle, repeatedly, over a 3 hour period.

Luciano was waiting for Dr. Mike & myself as we emerged from towards-the-end-of a long queue through immigration. We couldn’t find our bags on the carousel & Luciano went looking for them – both had fallen off the belt & would have remained on the floor, undetected by anything other than expert eyes. Luciano works in the airport & has expert airport eyes.

Sergio carried us here in a temperature of 31.5C, far too hot for two post-mature Englishmen…

We stopped on our slip-road off the motorway, along with other drivers, to move a broken-down very old battered Fiat dormobile sufficiently out-of-the-way for other vehicles to pass. It would surprise me if a vehicle this over-the-hill has proper licensing & taxing.

Arriving at the Monasterio just after 20.00 & tasty supper provided. About 22 course participants have arrived, mostly the House Team prepping for arrivals.

No wifi is available. The monastery is being extended & the broadcast unit has moved outside the reach of these accommodations.
