The Warfield

The arrival of the Crims in San Francisco on November 1st provided a day off to unwind and relax. In Robert’s case that meant meeting up with his sister and long-time SanFran resident, Patricia. Arriving at the venerable venue at around 4.00ish for soundcheck, KC had to accommodate the needs of support act Pigmy Love Circus, featuring Tool drummer, Danny Carey. Perhaps one reason why the gig sounds as good as it does is possibly due to the presence of PLC who not only warmed up the crowd but perhaps helped sharpen Crimson’s focus as they stepped out on stage to play one of the largest venues so far the tour. With everyone rising to the occasion, as it were, there are plenty of strong moments on a setlist that has by now coalesced into a regular, road-tested running order. Just how well it all goes down you can judge for yourself in the ecstatic applause that thunders on for over two minutes after turning in Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Part IV. There’s yet another minute's worth of impressed bellowing and calling for more after The Deception of Thrush, heralding a return of Elephant Talk, a song not heard too many times at that point, topping off with Red.
