Iíve seen this gig listed as being in Dieburg, rather than Augsburg, and at a what sounds like a smallish venue. RF is low in the mix on this recording, indicating a small hall. Hmmmm. Very enjoyable gig, and one that Iíve purchased as a two-fingered gesture to the clown whoís posted this on YouTube in its entirety.

Father and son both enjoy February 8, 2009

I first played this disc while my almost-five-year-old son played with Lego in the living room. A special highlight in my ears was Davidís confident entry on the end-solo in "Starless", but my son declared unsolicited favor upon the completion of "Great Deceiver" ("Daddy, I like that song"). I guess thatís why it was the lead-off track on the 1974 album :)
Just what you want, sonically: clean sound, good mix, full bass, low hiss ... the kind of recording that encourages the enthusiast to buy more. Performance-wise, thereís some ups and downs ... as noted by an earlier gentleman, the band recovers well from the slips. However, we donít expect perfection, but hope for freshness, surprise, and the honest permutations of a given performanceís muse. In these, Augsburg delivers.
a wild ride, this one! September 21, 2007

Iím still marveling at how many times this version of Starless seems to will itself back from the brink of disaster. Wettonís particularly "rubberbandy" bass is a real treat. One of my favorite Deceivers as well.
Thanks, DGM, as always.

A great show, excellent sound. Thank you for making this available. The only disappointment is the incomplete LTIA.
I am so happy to have all this music available. THANK YOU!

I enjoy giving Dr. Diamond a listen now and then but can sort of understand why it was abandoned. A reminder maybe of Savoy Browns Hellbound Train.
Another Truncated Show September 17, 2007

Yet another trucated show from the ladsí tour of Germany in 1974. What exactly do the producers have against the end of these shows? I want my 21st Century Schizoid Man!

What a superb show. It seems the German dates on the 1974 tour brought many interesting twists and turns, as well as excellent set lists. This recording is a perfect compliment to the Mainz, and Heidelberg recordings. Mainz has always been on my changer because of itís improvs and music set. This show rivals that performance, and even though it lacks the number of improvs, it more than makes up for it by the ferocious playing by the band. The mood and terror of "Doctor Diamond" is exquisite. A most enjoyable listen...
