I was lucky enough to see this band twice in 1980, in NY. This is the best live recording I have heard of the LOG, and it sends chills up my spine. Turn it up to 106db, add 1500 people, and a lot of sweat, and (maybe, somewhat...) you will be able to experience Irving Plaza, NYC, July 22, 1980. But, no, you won’t. But this is really great, anyway.

Much as I love the rough, clubby atmospherics of the ’Thrang Thrang Gozinbulx - Official Bootleg CD release I cannot understand why this performance was passed over in favour of those recordings. The sound here is clean, the performances superb and at nearly 70 minutes worth you get to experience the whole show. Those fortunate enough to own the original vinyl copy of ’League of Gentlemen’ in all it’s quirky glory will know that the re-mastered versions on ’God Save the King’ do not do justice to the music. This release does and it does it in spades! Quite simply this is the closest to the spirit of this band you’re ever likely to find.
Tight little dance band! March 3, 2010

I have heard poor quality bootlegs of LoG before, but this is like a ride in a Cadillac limousine! What I hear is a rhythm section that is hard and tight as a nail. The bass playing of Sara and Johnny on the drums is so in- the- pocket that Robert has a beautiful blank palette on which to paint his prolific and pioneering guitar work. I hear the templates of "Frame By Frame", the wicked super-fast rhythm strumming of "The Sailors Tale" soloing, and some absolutely ripping lead playing that brings to mind "Neurotica", "Breathless" and "Lark’s Tongues in Aspic Pt I"! The other wonderful bit of all this playing is the odd off-kilter rhythm/lead that Barry adds with the keyboards. The horny feel of this band is driven by the relentless rhythmic drive of Sara & Johnny, but with Robert’s astounding guitar work and Barry’s other-worldly keyboard brilliance, LoG take you to some wild places!!! Pick this sucker up if you want to hear a band that was probably two decades before it’s time. Thanks so much Robert, David S., Alex, Sid and DGM!!! You guys are the best.

They need a vocalist, otherwise sounds pretty good.

The sound quality almost matches that of the "God Save The King" CD. This is a must download if you want to hear clean versions of the songs that did not make it onto the CD. BTW, still waiting for a Mr Stormy treated version of "Marriagemuzik"

Another excellent LOG download, with great sound. It’s always an enjoyable listen to these folks groove, hear Robert in a purely instrumental setting, and the organ take its rightful place in the sonic space. The bass/drums unit is tight as usual and propelling. With a nice performance and excellent sound, this is good point to start if you’re curious about the League Of Gentleman.
