Ten Years After This Concert April 27, 2010
Written by stevieraygilbert
I never regretted not staying to hear Alvin Lee and Ten Years After after Crim left the stage. Yes, more than once I was asked why I hadn’t stayed to hear the famous blues/boogie speed riffer et al, having made the trip from East Dallas all the way to Ft. Worth. The thing is, I couldn’t reconcile the disparate musical styles of King Crimson "warming up" for Ten Years After. I went to so many concerts at that particular arena back in those days (including E.L.P!) I can’t remember exactly what bands I saw play on the same bill. Dim memories of Robin Trower during that same show want to surface, and I stayed to hear him if I’m not mistaken about him being on the program. But Ten Years After was definitely the headline band for the evening, which I’ll never understand. At least that explains all the talk about pickup trucks. I do remember one thing... the audience was too loud, not the band. And this was, indeed, the last time I saw King Crimson live in this or in any other incarnation. Still have the ticket stub.

I came to see King Crimson (for the first time) and left fulfilled. They were touring on the strength of "Starless and Bible Black." Robin Trower, the opening act, was really solid, too, especially his fine (now late) singer, Jame Read more

There is some funny audience banter on the original bootleg recording of this concert. During the improv, a lady says, "They’re too loud!"....also, a man says, "Chuck it! Hell, chuck Read more

Thank you, this is a very good upgrade. It is great to listen to ’Fracture’ without all of the conversation. My recording of this has a brief improv before ’Fracture’. Stormy did a great job with the bootleg recording, the Read more
