  Best Pure Frippertronics Release Yet? September 4, 2011

Really really enjoying this set and had to speak up. In spite of "just" being a 2 song set it’s absolutely worth every penny and a Frippertronics devotee’s fantasy: A fly on the wall’s live sonic view of the Frippertronics process at the height of its majesty. Removed from the punk sensibilities of New York & America where the shorter pieces might be more appropriate, he pulls out the stops and weaves two magnificent sound tapestries made up of sections linked by common aural themes.
"Green Libraries 1" even features marvelous use of noise as a "thud-thud" like tone echoes throughout the final few minutes much like the scratching sound from Let The Power Fall’s "1985". Somehow he worked it into the tonal progression like a rhythm pattern, creating one of the most complete examples of the loop-only process at work.
I would point to this and the show from July 6 in Rochester NY as the two must-have entries for the loops only fans out there. This is the goods we waited thirty years for, snap it up so they’ll release more.

This latest in the series of Frippertronics release is another fine entry. Sound Quality is much better than the old cassette I’ve had for years. If you enjoy the solo Frippertronics, don’t hesitate, snatch this one. You will not be disappointed.
This music takes me places unlike any other music I’ve ever heard. It’s primal, and timeless, and engaging in a way unlike anything else.
As always, please release the Feb. 5, 1978 NYC Kitchen show, a truly wonderful and unique performance - and my personal favorite Frippertronics show.

Very glad the audience recording was incorporated into the upload as the natural reverb from the venue really adds a lot of character to this Frippertronics show. The atmosphere and attentive audience appears to have made the difference and really brought out some beautiful music. Green Music for Libraries II is particularly riveting. An infant can be heard also voicing his or her opinion at one point and strangely is not unwelcomed element. I’ve noticed that the Frippertronics repetitions at this show appear to fade quicker than usual, likely something to do with these particular Revoxes. This hazardous element meant that Frippertronics inputs were required more frequently. In other words they mutated quicker than usual making it very interesting indeed. Great upload ! More from this early European leg of the 1979 tour please !

I’ve had a copy of the bootleg for a while now and I was very happy to see that I could now purchase a high-quality recording of this show. Very well done! On the second musical track, about 50s in, you can just barely hear the alarm that went off during the performance. This is an excellent show and this listener will have it in heavy rotation for the foreseeable future. Essential summertime listening! ~f
