Glenn O'Brien has e-mailed me, c/o The Sistery Person. An increasing number of e-mails are being forwarded to me from Fripp The Sister. Perhaps Patricia is the first-call Fripp who results from Googling. Glenn writes…

I'd like to send you a dvd of the TV Party documentary if you could provide me with a mailing address. You are also in some shows that have been digitized and cleaned up. I think you'll be amused and pleased at your presence, and your management probably will be too…

Glenn was the host of the TV Party, a foray into public access television in New York during 1978. I look forward to the documentary for more & better information on its history. My sojourn in NYC was a remarkably powerful period in this life, and the TVP represents part of that free-wheeling, open engagement of time, place & persons.

Glenn's reference to management: Mark Fenwick of EG was in NY & horrified when he saw the first show (I was a guest guitarist in Walter Stedding's Dragon People). Mark was frightened that this would lead to the end of my career. True, this might have represented the end of a career that Mark would have planned for me; but Mark's approach to careering was not one for me.

Debbie Harry & Chris Stein were regulars on the TV Party. On one show, Debbie demonstrated how to pogo. This sequence was shown on (the first?) all-night tv transmission in the UK, on the night of the 1980 Carter-Reagan election. I watched the election-coverage in the only habitable (and very cold) room at Fernhill House in Witchampton (just bought & empty with holes in the roof) and was amazed to see Debbie pogoing from the TV Party.

TV Party also accepted live (unmoderated) telephone calls from the public, some of which were remarkably frank and direct. The frank & direct questions for Debbie received equally frank & direct responses from Chris.
