Wow - what a show this is! A gorgeously serpentine House snakes and weaves from the slow-burning build up of the preceding soundscape and then just explodes with some marvelously fearsome bursts of guitar. That incendiary delivery continues into Heavy ConstruKction, which now double-times the ascending/descending theme, acts as a springboard into some truly inspired playing. Fripp’s sliding solo dive-bombs into the deep end maintaining an astonishingly ferocious energy.
After catching their respective breaths, Light ConstruKction is ushered in with an interesting motif that we’ve not heard before on this tour. Initiated by Trey, he’s joined by Fripp on vibe setting. A new idea being tried out or something out of the air? After a decidedly jazzy ‘piano’ solo from Fripp, Trey takes off into the stratosphere once again. It gets even better on a blistering Live Groove that has undulating layers of sustained lines as they take it in turns to rock out big time! This kind of freewheeling invention is what made P2 such an astonishingly creative outfit.
Were there to be such a spurious award, this gig is definitely a candidate for “best show.”
